Workforce with a Difference

Workforce with a Difference

Travis Perkins, the UK’s largest builders’ merchant, commissioned Speakeasy to
produce a film spearheading its ‘Workforce with a Difference’ campaign. This
encouraged staff to think more carefully about how they treat each other, to avoid both personal and commercial damage to the business.

The film was based on the central idea of not treating colleagues as though they are
the same as you – and featured a central character who literally
sees himself in everyone he interacts with in the work place.

The damage to the business, in terms of performance and reputation, are depicted
through a series of hard-hitting scenarios which highlight the dangers of not
considering the individual circumstances of colleges – and how the things we say
and do may impact on them. The film used professional actors and was shot over
two days in a series of Travis Perkins locations. It was premiered at the group’s
annual conference, receiving universal praise from the UK management team.

Offshore Europe Aberdeen

Multiple Clients

Offshore Europe Aberdeen

Exhibition Design & Build / AV / Multi-Stand Management

Speakeasy designed, built and managed five simultaneous stands at Offshore Europe, across 228sqm of stand space, with 40sqm of LED video walls, 11 display screens, 80 furniture items and a 16-strong build crew on site for 10 days. The clients were Scottish Enterprise, Invest Aberdeen, Acteon, Net Zero Technology Centre and Scottish National Investment Bank – each with distinct brand identities, different scales and different briefs, all delivered in parallel. Scottish Enterprise’s pavilion featured an impressive curved video wall. Behind it was a hospitality lounge and networking space, anchored by a 6m circular hanging banner overhead. Net Zero Technology Centre’s stand centred on a 7.5m x 3m high-resolution LED wall with a 1.9mm pitch, among the finest available – designed to be viewed close up. Acteon’s stand made an immediate impression with a full-width curved LED header and a welcoming video wall at reception. Invest Aberdeen’s pavilion offered six individually branded pod stations with lockable storage and dedicated screens, while the Scottish National Investment Bank’s presence transformed a shell scheme into something far more polished through seamless full-height graphics and custom branding.

Managing five separate clients at a single event demands rigorous coordination, and that’s exactly what our project management team delivered – from collating and formatting digital content for every exhibitor to sourcing custom furniture and large-format graphics where needed, all with three event managers on the ground throughout the show.

Elevate

Newton Investment Management

Elevate

For over 15 years, Speakeasy has partnered with Newton Investment Management to deliver their annual conference, evolving the event year-on-year to meet changing audience needs. In 2023, we developed a fully integrated hybrid format that combined a live event in London, a broadcast studio in Boston, virtual speakers from around the world, and a bespoke virtual event platform. Working closely with the Newton team, we created the event theme, Elevate, and developed a complete visual identity to bring it to life.

To reflect the theme, we selected the iconic Sky Garden in London as the venue, creating a TV-style studio environment with staging, AV production, branding and event furniture throughout the space. Our team managed all aspects of speaker preparation, content development and technical production, ensuring seamless interaction between speakers and hosts in London, Boston and online. Live and pre-recorded content was delivered across the venue’s large LED screens and streamed globally through the event platform.

The hybrid approach significantly expanded the event’s reach, bringing together in-person attendees in London, virtual attendees across the UK and virtual attendees in the US. Through the event platform and app, both in-person and online audiences were able to engage equally through Q&A, polling and session content. By recording presentations and making content available after the event, Newton was also able to extend the impact of the conference beyond the live experience and reach an even wider audience.

Suicide Prevention

Suicide Prevention

This animation is part of a trilogy of films created for NES, the education and training body of NHS Scotland. The goal was to deliver the key commitments set out in Scotland’s suicide preventions action plan – Every Life Matters.

The animation was to be delivered to a broad audience, so it was important the script avoided jargon and technical terms, focussing on straightforward engaging language.

Speakeasy used key statistics throughout the animation to stress the seriousness of the issue, motivating people to take action. Information was provided at the end of the film to signpost people to the right services. The watercolour animation technique was chosen because it is both visually engaging whilst remaining sensitive to the tone of the film.

BAEutiful Mind

BAEutiful Mind

BAE Systems commissioned Speakeasy to create a film for its trade stand at Defence and Security Equipment International – the largest security and defence trade show in the world.

The brief was to showcase the global defence and aerospace specialist as the ‘Home of Innovation’.  We needed to showcase the company’s human side, subverting the view that BAE Systems is all about ‘kit’ and engineering.

In the video, a number of individuals are filmed in an abstract studio environment.  As each contributor speaks, images relating to their views on creativity appear beside them: spiders, wheels, cockroaches – and even the Batmobile!  These abstract images articulate the contributor’s thoughts on creativity and reveal what exactly gave them inspiration to do their job.

“I’ve heard people talking about the film in the corridor, and I’ve never seen that before. So I don’t think you could ask for a more successful outcome than that.”

WindEnergy Hamburg

Exhibition Design & Build / Immersive AV / Content Production / Exhibitor Management

When Scottish Enterprise wanted to make a statement at one of the world’s leading renewable energy events, Speakeasy designed and built a 234sqm pavilion that turned heads from the moment the doors opened. Moving away from previous design aesthetics, we created a dynamic space built around a 12m x 3m LED screen, a light tunnel, and a fully immersive zone where visitors could experience Scotland’s wind energy story through 360-degree wraparound content and VR headsets, bringing virtual reality to the event for the first time. The result was one of the most talked-about stands in the hall, attracting thousands of international attendees and giving Scotland’s renewable energy sector a platform worthy of its ambition.

Beyond the spectacle, we supported 20 Scottish companies through every step of the process. Our bespoke Exhibitor Portal gathered artwork, logos, screen content and marketing materials early, keeping everything on track. Pre-show webinars and regular meetings ensured each company arrived confident and prepared. Our creative team handled post-production, formatted content for VR and LED displays, and produced a Master Showreel drawing together all 20 exhibitors into a single, compelling trailer for the stand’s screens. Twenty-one branded pod stations and relaxed networking areas with Scottish refreshments completed a pavilion that was as functional as it was striking.

Trauma Informed Practice

Trauma Informed Practice

Speakeasy was asked by the NHS Education for Scotland education and training body, NES, to create an animation to raise awareness of the prevalence and impact of trauma within the workplace. The goal was to inform practitioners and other staff how to deal sensitively with people in order to minimise the risk of distress and re-traumatisation, and highlight how traumatic experiences like sexual and domestic abuse can affect people.

Throughout the process Speakeasy worked with the client in character design, storyboarding, scripting and creation of the final 2D animation.

Given the sensitivity of the subject matter, Speakeasy opted for an expressive, emotive, hand drawn style, highly impactful whilst also being able to convey a sense of profound vulnerability, which is so fundamental to this area of work.

The use of the first-person narrative as each of the characters recounts their own personal experience of abuse allows us to hear the emotion in the characters voice and helps us to better relate to, and empathise with, the characters. The scenarios themselves clarify that anyone may have suffered trauma in the past. The 3 characters speak together with one voice to highlight the importance of standing together to help and empower one another.

Exhibition Design & Build / AV / Creative Problem-Solving

ETZ had always taken a shell scheme package at All Energy – but when they came to Speakeasy wanting more from their space, we showed them just how much was possible without blowing the budget. The first move was negotiating with show organisers to remove the shell scheme fascia, immediately unlocking extra height and opening up the stand visually. Seamless graphic walls replaced the standard panelled system, and small but considered touches like oak wooden slats and cushioned carpet brought warmth and a premium feel to the space. To showcase ETZ’s interactive world, we custom-built a branded desk in our in-house workshop that functioned as reception, storage and touchscreen station in one, paired with a 65″ touchscreen from our own AV inventory. The result was a stand that felt entirely bespoke and proved that with the right creative thinking, a shell scheme space can compete with anything on the show floor.

Scotland’s Life Sciences Conference & Awards

Produced by Speakeasy

Scotland’s Life Sciences Conference & Awards

Since 2017, Speakeasy has delivered the Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards Dinner a flagship event established in 2000 to recognise the pioneering individuals, organisations and innovations shaping one of Scotland’s most dynamic sectors. Building on years of successful partnership and sector knowledge, Speakeasy evolved the event further, launching the inaugural Scotland’s Life Sciences Conference in 2025 and transforming the programme into a full-day industry gathering.

The event creates a thought-provoking daytime conference with a high-profile evening awards dinner attended by more than 500 guests. Speakeasy leads the event from concept to completion, managing all aspects of planning, logistics, and delivery. Working closely with stakeholders, sponsors and sector leaders, Speakeasy shapes the conference agenda by identifying important topics and securing influential speakers within the industry. Alongside programme development, we oversee sponsorship strategy and partner management. Marketing activity is managed across multiple channels, including website management, social media and other delegate engagement strategies creating momentum before, during and after the event.

From registration and attendee management through to full audiovisual production and onsite operations, Speakeasy manages every touchpoint. This includes floor management, show calling, technical production, speaker support and event logistics ensuring a seamless transition from the day conference to evening awards dinner. To enhance networking and delegate engagement, Speakeasy introduced a dedicated event app featuring the live agenda, speaker profiles, event updates and networking tools. The platform also provided evening guests with table plans, helping create a more connected experience across both events.

The result is an event that not only showcases the strength and ambition of Scotland’s life sciences sector, but creates meaningful opportunities for collaboration, investment and recognition, reinforcing its position as one of the industry’s flagship gatherings.

Inspirational People

Inspirational People

Lloyds Banking Group’s Diversity & Inclusion team commissioned us to create a series of videos showcasing colleagues from diverse backgrounds who were carving out successful careers in the organisation. They were to include an analyst with cerebral palsy, a member of the graduate scheme who was blind, a gay area manager, a woman who had been granted significant of time off to deal with fertility issues, and an Asian director.

Our conversations with Jimmy, Simon, Louis, Jenny and Mark revealed powerful stories of tremendous challenges being faced and overcome. We felt a documentary approach would be a much richer and more memorable viewing experience than simply watching people talking in an office.

After viewing the films, hundreds of colleagues wrote to express how they had been inspired by what they had seen, and conveyed their support and solidarity. Making the film was life-changing for some of our ‘inspirational people’.  For example, it gave Jimmy Asuni an awareness of power to inspire others, and he went on to establish links with an organization supporting children with disabilities in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Student Recruitment

Student Recruitment

The University of Aberdeen commissioned Speakeasy to produce more than 20 films to help promote its postgraduate programmes. The brief was to raise awareness of the university’s Business and Law Schools, with a particular focus on international markets, including China and the Middle East.

On the theme of ‘Getting There’, our films present the University of Aberdeen as a portal into a new world of opportunity. ‘To get there – come here…’ Interviews were filmed against green screen with a motion-controlled camera to allow us to move in on a virtual background representing the student’s aspiration – where they hope to go as a result of the qualification.

Filming also involved the use of drones to capture dramatic footage of the university’s unique and historical buildings, as well as User Generated Content and bespoke motion graphics added in post-production.

Speakeasy also produced films to promote the university’s ‘Instant Offer’ proposition, as well as coverage of the Law Graduation Ceremony and marketing materials aimed specifically at the China market.

The Most Trusted

The Most Trusted

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi is Japan’s largest bank and one of the world’s largest, with 35,000 staff across 40 countries.

The bank commissioned Speakeasy to produce a film to help kick-start its induction

sessions and support HR staff in delivering the vision, culture and values to new recruits.

The film had to be inspiring, motivational and introduce some key ideas about the

business. It had to be applicable to everyone in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region – and easily adapted into multiple foreign languages.

Our film also had to introduce each department within the bank and bring the business to life for the audience.

Being Responsible

Being Responsible

Aimed primarily at shareholders, this film was produced for one of SSE’s annual meetings to illustrate the company’s commitment to exceeding the minimum requirement and doing the right thing for customers, staff, shareholders – and the environment as a whole.

The film references some of the difficult decisions made by the company in recent years, such as freezing gas and electricity prices and making a commitment to the living wage.

Messages are delivered through a combination of unscripted interviews with staff and managers, and simple ‘motion tracked’ captions inserted into the footage to appear as if they’re part of the scene.

The film includes a number of case studies showing how SSE works with communities to go the extra mile, making a real contribution to the lives of those it serves.

Filming was carried out across the UK, from Portsmouth to Strathy in the Highlands of Scotland.

Scottish Innovators

Scottish Innovators

At the launch of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Scottish Enterprise and its partner organisations held an event for business leaders, government officials and high-profile VIPs. The aim was to encourage the growth and expansion of industry through the tremendous business opportunities presented by the games and surrounding events.

Scottish Enterprise commissioned Speakeasy to produce a short, impactful film that introduced the concept of Scotland’s innovation heritage to the conference audience.  This was a mood piece, intended to surprise and engage the audience ahead of the opening speech.

We combined archive footage and stock images with an animation style that gradually gathers pace as the entire history of Scottish innovation unfolds, culminating in a flurry of snapshots of Scottish inventions – both old and new. A carefully chosen music track helps to build the momentum of the piece, whilst evoking a sense of purpose and promise.

Queensferry Crossing Lighting Up Ceremony

Queensferry Crossing Lighting Up Ceremony

Speakeasy produced seven launch films and the first main launch event for the opening of the £1.35 billion Queensferry Crossing, Scotland’s biggest infrastructure project in a generation.

The brief was to create a visual spectacle that would attract international media attention; celebrate the work of the contractors involved and mark the handover to the Scottish Government. Speakeasy’s creative involved staging a dramatic night time light show that would be filmed by drones and helicopters and would showcase the bridge at its most striking.

Speakeasy had eight camera crews at strategic points across the site, as well as two aerial crews. We delivered seven films in total, including two overnight edits to provide footage for international media syndication. Six of the films were specifically for social media. Our main 1-minute launch film attracted 25,000 views within three days of the launch and supported the #LoveQC social media campaign.

Brilliantly Connected

Brilliantly Connected

As part of an organisation-wide print, video and digital brand refresh, Speakeasy was commissioned to create a new brand film for Scottish Development International. This would highlight how Scotland is brilliantly connected for businesses across a number of sectors including the financial and technology industries.

We mixed new and archive footage to showcase Scotland and its businesses at their most dramatic, colourful and engaging.

Scotland’s ‘connectivity’ was visually represented in the film by a dynamic neon graphical ‘pulse’. This zoomed through and over different settings in Scotland – landmarks including the Kelpies and the Forth Rail Bridge; Scottish cities seen from above and a business meeting with advisors – connecting businesses to each other, via vital infrastructures, people and innovative technologies.

We also created seven case studies to accompany the main brand film. These featured interviews with companies including Barclays, JP Morgan and games specialist Outplay.

Arup Fellows – Series 3

Arup Fellows – Series 3

Arup is a global firm of consulting engineers, designers and planners, headquartered in London.

Speakeasy’s ‘Arup Fellows’ films aim to educate and inspire the internal audience by showcasing the achievements of engineers who are masters in their fields.

In previous years, the Fellows were filmed on location, at buildings they had played a part in developing. Then, we introduced CGI models to bring the buildings to the Fellows instead, in a stylized white studio.

In Series 3 we took the concept further by blending CGI with props and graphics to create an interactive context for the Fellows, bringing the creative process to life and externalising the ideas and conceptual thinking that have put them ahead of the game.

Building Your Tomorrow Today

Building Your Tomorrow Today

Global engineering giant Doosan Babcock specialises in engineering, aftermarket and upgrade services in the energy sector.  The company’s most precious resource is its people and it wanted a brand film that would not just convey who it is and what it does, but also express the link between the engineering projects and the people responsible for them.

Speakeasy developed a concept to convey this link in a visually powerful way. In brand films we usually see staff talking in the location of their workplaces. Our idea was to turn this on its head. Using the ‘double exposure’ technique, increasingly seen on television and in film title sequences, we placed the working environment inside the people instead of the other way around.

This involved filming employees in a studio as well as filming power stations around the UK, before creating the effects in post production.

Safe Drive Stay Alive

Safe Drive Stay Alive

Safe Drive, Stay Alive is a live event organised by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service as part of its campaign to reduce road traffic accidents and the suffering they cause, particularly amongst young people.

Speakeasy was asked to refresh the event’s filmed content – a dramatised scenario of four young people embarking on an ill-fated car journey.

Our approach involved sourcing five new case studies of real accident victims. This was the biggest challenge of the project and involved research with support groups, emergency services and social media, including Facebook.

Steadicam and time lapse sequences helped to create the reconstructions. One continuous shot involved choreographing more than 30 people as the camera passed through the scene, including crew, actors, ambulance, fire and police.

Feedback suggested the film had significantly helped increase engagement with the campaign, with viewers describing it as ‘powerful’ and ‘emotional.’

Words Count

Words Count

Lloyds launched a campaign to help make the organisation more inclusive and wanted a 60-90 second film to provide the emotive punch of the campaign. The aim was to help stimulate cultural change in an organisation of 90,000 people.

We built the film around the idea that even seemingly innocuous comments can cause serious hurt, building up over time until the recipient feels at ‘breaking point’. The image of a light bulb shattering captures this in a memorable way. We had a cast of five characters, and filmed them talking straight to camera, spot-lit against a stark backdrop, creating an intimacy with the audience.

Words Count became the most clicked on film in the history of Lloyds Banking Group’s iWatch channel, where it was watched by more than 22,000 staff.

Power Cuts Animation

Power Cuts Animation

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks – the distribution arm of energy supplier SSE – wanted to overhaul its external communications for customers experiencing a power cut.

Speakeasy was tasked with scripting the films to provide accurate advice in an engaging, reassuring and accessible way.

Using friendly 2D animation, we created a rural village location and a small number of simple characters – Jack and Mavis and their dog Buzz.

The first of our films delivers advice on how to prepare for a power cut, providing a series of tips on what to expect and how to respond safely. The second film gives advice for those already experiencing a power cut, including how to connect with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks

Speakeasy also created five shorter social media films, each offering one specific tip.

Queensferry Crossing

‘Lighting Up’ Opening Event

Speakeasy produced seven launch films and the first main launch event for the opening of the £1.35 billion Queensferry Crossing, Scotland’s biggest infrastructure project in a generation.

This was a hugely complex project delivered in a tight schedule (4-5 weeks) on what was still a live construction site.

This involved installing more than 100 light fittings across the bridge and getting more than 80 crew on and off the bridge at different stages – including specialist lighting and projection mapping teams, audio-visual specialists, camera crew and events teams. With construction work still in its final stages, there were many logistical and health and safety challenges.

Speakeasy managed the project by liaising closely with the contractors – Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors – as well as Transport Scotland, Police Scotland and bridge managers Amey. To avoid disrupting ongoing construction work, much of our set up was done overnight in the run up to the launch event. Issues that arose include Police Scotland declaring a no-fly zone across the whole bridge area two days before the launch event. To ensure we could still film the launch light show by drone and helicopter, we had to secure additional clearances very quickly. We also had to work around the removal of four cranes on top of the three bridge towers – a job that involved 40 helicopter lifts and was weather dependent.

On launch night, Speakeasy had eight camera crews at strategic points across the site, as well as two aerial crews.  We delivered seven films in total, including two overnight edits to provide footage for international media syndication. Six of the films were specifically for social media. Our main 1-minute launch film attracted 25,000 views within three days of the launch and supports the #LoveQC social media campaign. Speakeasy was also responsible for hosting the press photocall on launch night. This involved accompanying broadcast and press crews including the BBC, ITV, Sky and Reuters, to key vantage points and maintaining health and safety compliance at all times. We also delivered VIP and ‘VVIP’ launch parties for more than 100 invited guests and dignitaries. This involved working closely with Police Scotland and the First Minister’s protection team.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise

Aqua Nor Norway

Exhibition Design & Build / Logistics / Exhibitor Management

When Highlands and Islands Enterprise needed a team to refurbish, build and manage the Scottish Pavilion at one of aquaculture’s flagship global events, Speakeasy delivered from concept to close. Taking on an existing stand design, we refurbished and rebuilt the structure – a striking curvilinear form with a curved overhead pelmet and elegant double pillars that felt open and welcoming while clearly defining the pavilion’s presence on the show floor. Every component was pre-built in our workshop, then packed and transported to Trondheim in close collaboration with our trusted local haulage partner, with all shipping, insurance and regulatory requirements carefully managed throughout.

Supporting 20 SMEs across the three-day event, our team went well beyond the build. A bespoke branded Exhibitor Portal allowed each company to manage AV requirements, upload artwork and access key documentation – all in one place. Pre-show webinars walked exhibitors through 3D renders of their individual pods, logistics and presentation schedules. We also consolidated and shipped each company’s collateral and merchandise directly to their pod, removing a significant logistical burden from the exhibitors themselves. On-site, we co-ordinated a full live presentation programme, managed digital content across all screens, and provided real-time AI-powered translation between English and Spanish via wireless headsets, ensuring the pavilion was accessible to audiences across the show floor.

WindEurope Copenhagen

Exhibition Design & Build / International Logistics / Exhibitor Management

Speakeasy designed and built the Scottish Enterprise pavilion at WindEurope 2025 in Copenhagen – one of the most influential renewable energy events in the world. The stand showcased Scotland’s credentials as a hub for wind energy innovation through prominent Team Scotland branding, lightbox walls, large-format graphics and a centrally positioned display screen drawing visitors in with video and animation content. A blend of open-plan seating and semi-private meeting rooms gave exhibiting companies the flexibility to host everything from casual conversations to focused business meetings, all within a modern, dynamic space built with eco-friendly materials.

Delivering the stand to Copenhagen presented a distinct set of post-Brexit challenges around work permits, labour restrictions and Danish regulatory compliance. Our project management team tackled these head-on – liaising early with the venue, event organisers and Danish authorities to secure all necessary registrations and permits, and building a carefully planned transport strategy with contingency measures in place. Speakeasy was among the few contractors to successfully navigate these hurdles, getting the stand completed on time and fully compliant.

NAFSA San Diego

ICEF

NAFSA San Diego

Exhibition Design & Build / International Logistics / On-Site Management

When global education events specialist ICEF needed a standout presence at one of the world’s largest education exhibitions, they turned to Speakeasy. Positioned at the main entrance to the show, the stand needed immediate visual impact — and we delivered it through a 5-metre central tower structure built from our modular aluminium framing system, replacing the expensive rigging solutions ICEF had previously relied on and achieving greater height and visibility at significantly better value. The stand was completed by a clearly defined networking and meeting area, custom-built desks, branded balustrades, a premium carpet finish and an integrated reception screen – a polished, professional environment designed to draw people in and keep them there.

All components were manufactured in Scotland and shipped to San Diego in two consolidated crates, with installation completed over two days using a combination of our own team and local labour in compliance with venue and union regulations. A Speakeasy project manager was present throughout build, event and de-rig – maintaining quality, managing on-site contractors and ensuring the stand looked its best every day of the show. The client was delighted, and the project led directly to repeat business for subsequent events.

The Open St Andrews

VisitScotland

The Open St Andrews

Exhibition Design & Build / Interactive Content / Event Management

Standing out at The Open means competing against global brands with enormous budgets – so when VisitScotland asked Speakeasy to create their presence at St Andrews, we knew it had to be something genuinely memorable. Our answer was ‘The Home of Golf’: a fully interactive stand built around a bespoke 6-hole crazy golf course recreating iconic Scottish landmarks, set within a gallery of full-height large-format prints showcasing Scotland’s most celebrated courses. A large interactive touchscreen – loaded with archive footage, Open Golf history and a visitor quiz – invited people to linger and explore, while the crazy golf drew in families and enthusiasts alike. Visitor numbers far exceeded previous years, with leads and favourable contacts increasing fivefold compared to earlier stands.

Designed, built and fully managed by our team from our Scottish workshop, the stand ran smoothly across all 10 days of the event – navigating the strict accreditation processes, tight access windows and limited on-site facilities that come with major temporary venues. All structural elements were either recycled or returned to our 15,000 sq ft storage facility for future use.

NAFSA Orlando

Study in Scotland

NAFSA Orlando

Exhibition Design & Build / International Logistics / Ongoing Partnership

When Study in Scotland first approached Speakeasy at NAFSA 2023, they were spending a significant portion of their budget on rigging high-level banners and getting limited return from expensive show contractors. We redesigned their stand around a 4-metre high modular tower structure – achieving the same visual height and impact without a single rigging cost – and paired it with striking graphics, networking desks and a branded reception area that gave Scotland a presence worthy of the brand. The entire stand packs down into just two compact crates, stored in Scotland between shows, refurbished annually and shipped back out to the US each year.

We handle everything: international logistics, show services ordering, local labour coordination in compliance with US union regulations, and an on-site Speakeasy project manager throughout build and event days – so the Study in Scotland team arrive to a stand that’s ready to go. Built on a modular aluminium system, the stand is also adaptable for different venues and show formats around the world, making it a long-term asset rather than a one-off investment. We’re now Study in Scotland’s trusted exhibition partner wherever their events take them.

Global Offshore Wind Investment Forum

Scottish Government / Scottish Enterprise

Global Offshore Wind Investment Forum

Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government appointed Speakeasy to deliver the inaugural Global Offshore Wind Investment Forum, bringing together leading international investors, industry leaders and government representatives. The objective was to create a world-class event experience that would showcase Scotland’s offshore wind ambitions while leaving a lasting impression on delegates from around the globe.

Speakeasy managed all aspects of event delivery, including planning, logistics, delegate management, branding, graphics, staging and AV production. We developed an immersive visual journey throughout the venue using large-scale graphics, digital signage and interactive LED displays, while the main forum featured a striking stage design with twin LED video walls. The programme also included a welcome reception at the National Galleries and a gala dinner hosted by the First Minister at Edinburgh Castle.

With high-profile speakers including Scottish Government ministers, industry leaders and investment experts, the event attracted significant media attention and required detailed stakeholder management. Our team worked closely with ministerial offices, security partners and broadcasters to ensure seamless delivery, comprehensive contingency planning and a first-class delegate experience. The event was widely praised by organisers and attendees alike, with feedback highlighting the professionalism, flexibility and expertise of the Speakeasy team throughout.

I just wanted to record my most sincere thanks to you both and your teams for helping to deliver GOSWIF. Feedback has been hugely positive and confirms that all the hard work and effort was worth it!

On a personal level, I also want to say that I have undertaken many events and managed many contractors in the past and working with you all stands out amongst them all!   Your calm, obliging nature and professionalism throughout this process has been amazing.   There have been so many challenges, and you not only met them but exceeded all the expectations! THANK YOU.

World Congress of Soil Science

British Society of Soil Science

World Congress of Soil Science

As Professional Conference Organiser for the World Congress of Soil Science, Speakeasy worked in partnership with the International Union of Soil Science (IUSS) and the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS) to deliver one of the world’s leading scientific congresses at the SEC Glasgow. Planned throughout the challenges of the pandemic, the event was successfully adapted into a hybrid format, ensuring global accessibility and enabling participation from the international soil science community.

Speakeasy provided full project management, secretariat services and end-to-end event delivery, supporting nearly 1,700 delegates and 500 speakers. Across six days, the congress featured 68 sessions, 947 hybrid poster presentations, 37 exhibitors, 32 satellite meetings and 12 fringe events, all supported by our conference app, virtual platform and hybrid event expertise. Alongside the scientific programme, delegates enjoyed a welcome reception, gala dinner and a series of post-congress tours.

The congress delivered strong commercial and sustainability outcomes, generating £230,000 in sponsorship and exhibition income and achieving £154,000 profit on a £1 million budget—more than three times the original target. The surplus enabled the creation of a bursary fund to support future attendance from lower-income economies. Delivered as a paperless event with a strong focus on reducing waste and reusing materials, the congress received multiple sustainability awards and was praised by organisers for the professionalism, commitment and collaborative approach of the Speakeasy team.

In the service of Scotland

Scottish Government

In the service of Scotland

Speakeasy partnered with the Scottish Government to deliver its flagship In the Service of Scotland staff engagement event, designed to bring colleagues together around a new organisational vision. The event aimed to inspire, inform and connect staff across the organisation, helping them understand their role in delivering ministerial priorities while creating opportunities to share ideas, learn from one another and feel part of a wider Scottish Government community.

For the event, Speakeasy designed and delivered a three-day virtual experience featuring a festival-style programme of live and pre-recorded content, interactive workshops, wellbeing sessions and networking opportunities. A bespoke event website, registration system and online platform provided delegates with a seamless experience, while a temporary broadcast studio at St Andrew’s House enabled ministers and senior leaders to engage directly with attendees. Following its success, the event evolved the following year into a hybrid format, with live audience hubs in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen connected through a fully integrated digital platform.

The event achieved exceptional levels of engagement, with more than 5,000 session attendances during the virtual programme and a further 1,250 on-demand views in the weeks that followed. Attendance increased further the following year, reaching 8,376 session attendances across the hybrid programme, alongside 1,425 post-event views. By combining engaging content, interactive technology and flexible delivery formats, the event successfully supported the Scottish Government’s organisational objectives and strengthened connections across its workforce.

Annual Virtual Conference

Public Services Delivery Scotland

Annual Virtual Conference

Public Services Delivery Scotland has worked with Speakeasy for several years to deliver the virtual platform for its annual conference programme, providing healthcare professionals across Scotland with access to high-quality learning, networking and professional development opportunities. The platform needed to support up to 2,000 delegates, multiple concurrent sessions, interactive engagement tools and comprehensive reporting to meet CPD requirements.

Speakeasy provided a fully branded virtual event platform and managed all technical delivery, including live and pre-recorded presentations, speaker support, rehearsals and live event management. Over two days, the conference featured 75 plenary and workshop sessions, more than 200 searchable poster presentations and 25 virtual exhibitor stands. Delegates were able to participate in live polls, moderated Q&A sessions, networking opportunities and one-to-one video meetings through an integrated virtual meeting hub.

The event successfully connected thousands of healthcare professionals in an engaging and accessible online environment. Following the conference, all sessions were professionally edited and made available on demand, extending the value of the content beyond the live event. Detailed analytics covering attendance, engagement, exhibitor interactions, poster views and CPD tracking provided NES with valuable insights and demonstrated the effectiveness of the conference in supporting learning and knowledge sharing across the healthcare sector.

Meet the Buyer

Supplier Development Programme

Meet the Buyer

Speakeasy has partnered with the Supplier Development Programme (SDP) for many years to deliver Meet the Buyer, Scotland’s largest public procurement event. Bringing together thousands of delegates, exhibitors, buyers and public sector organisations, the event provides a platform for businesses to connect with procurement opportunities, build relationships and gain valuable industry insights.

Delivering an event of this scale requires careful coordination across multiple stakeholders, extensive exhibitor management and a seamless delegate experience. Acting as an extension of the SDP team, Speakeasy provides end-to-end event management, combining our expertise in events, exhibitions, technology and film production to deliver a fully integrated solution.

Our role begins long before event day, managing exhibitor onboarding, event communications and the creation of key event resources including exhibitor manuals, accessibility information, speaker guidance and delegate communications. To streamline the exhibitor experience, Speakeasy developed a dedicated exhibitor portal where participants can manage company profiles, upload marketing materials, register staff, generate badges, submit dietary requirements and order additional services such as graphics, furniture and audiovisual equipment. Information submitted through the portal automatically populates the event app, reducing administration and ensuring delegates always have access to the latest exhibitor information.

Working closely with the venue and exhibition contractors, Speakeasy designs the event floorplan and creates dedicated zones that maximise visitor flow and exhibitor visibility. This includes the development of bespoke feature areas such as partner pavilions, networking spaces and presentation theatres. Our in-house design team creates all event branding and signage, ensuring a consistent visual identity across the venue while delivering all print production and installation requirements.

Technology plays a key role in enhancing the attendee experience. Speakeasy provides the registration system, including pre-event badge generation, onsite badge printing and fast-track scanning for delegates arriving with pre-printed badges. The event app serves as a central information hub, featuring the agenda, speaker profiles, exhibitor directory, attendee networking tools and an interactive floorplan that allows visitors to quickly locate exhibitors and key event features. This floorplan is also made available via touchscreen displays throughout the venue to improve navigation and accessibility.

Onsite, Speakeasy manages all audiovisual production for keynote and presentation areas, including live content distribution to screens throughout the venue, wireless headset systems and AI-powered live captioning to improve accessibility. Our film production team records all presentations for post-event use and captures additional content including interviews, delegate reactions and event highlights, creating a library of assets that extends the value of the event long after it has concluded.
